How It Works: Your Simple Guide to Smarter Storage

At Birmingham Self Storage, we’ve used technology to make storing your belongings as easy and flexible as possible. Our process is designed to be simple, fully automated, and available around the clock, giving you complete control.

Here is a step-by-step guide to how it all works, from booking your space to moving your items in.

Step 1: Book Your Space Online

Booking your unit is a quick and easy three-step process on our website.

  1. Choose Your Space: Select your preferred site (Digbeth or Duddeston) and pick the unit size that fits your needs.
  2. Enter Your Details: Provide your basic personal information to create your account.
  3. Confirm & Pay: On the final confirmation page, review your booking. This is where you can apply any promotional or discount codes you may have before signing the Terms and Conditions. Once you’re ready, click “Submit Booking” to finalize your order.

After a successful booking, you will see a “Booking Confirmed” page.

Step 2: Get Your Access Code

Once your booking is confirmed, our system will automatically allocate a unit to you and generate your unique access codes. You can find these details in two ways:

  • Immediately after booking: Click the “View your unit” link directly on the “Booking Confirmed” page (as seen in the screenshot above).
  • At a later time: Simply log in to your account on our website. On your dashboard, you will see a list of your units. Tap the “Access & more” link next to the relevant unit to reveal your unit number and its entry code. Check this page for further details on how the access code works.

Please note: While our system automatically allocates a unit, you can request a different specific unit for a small service fee if you have a preference.

Step 3: Move In

Now you are ready to store!

  1. Bring your items to the site at a time that suits you – remember, you have 24/7 access.
  2. Use your access code to enter the main site gates and building doors.
  3. Unload your belongings conveniently at our designated loading bay.
  4. Make your way to your allocated unit and store your items securely.

The entire move-in process is designed to be fully automatic, so you can complete it without needing any of our staff to be present.


Important: Your Safety Induction

While our access system is fully automated for your convenience, your safety is our top priority. Therefore, it is mandatory for all new customers to receive a thorough induction from a member of our staff before their first time using the facility unattended.

We will arrange this induction with you to ensure you are comfortable and safe when using our sites.
